HOUSTON – Deputy constables said an auto shop owner gave out hundreds of fake vehicle inspections.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office Emissions Task Force said it happened at the Accurate Auto Repair shop on Bissonnet Road in the Alief area.

Investigators said the shop conducted 300 vehicle inspections over a three month period. They said the shop was performing a procedure called "clean scanning" that bypasses the emissions and safety portions of the state mandated inspection.

Of the 300 inspections, 140 were illegal. Forty-eight percent of the illegal inspections resulted in potentially unsafe vehicles allowed on the road.

Task force officials said the owner, Farnam Nikoui, knew the unlawful inspections were taking place. Nikoui was arrested and charged with two counts of felony tampering with government record.

Accurate Auto Repair is a state licensed vehicle inspection and auto repair station.
