Governor’s Mansion lit in blue this week in honor of National Police Week, Peace Officers Memorial Week in Texas

The lights at the Texas Governor’s Mansion in Austin will be blue this week in honor of police officers.

In a news release from Gov. Greg Abbott’s office, both National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Week were declared for May 9-15.

The Governor’s Mansion began to light up in blue on Monday.

“This week, we are lighting the Governor’s Mansion blue as a symbol of appreciation for the men and women of law enforcement,” Abbott said in a statement. “The police deserve our honor and respect, and I thank the courageous members law enforcement for their many sacrifices and for putting their lives on the line to keep us safe.”
