HOUSTON – Omakase is a Japanese dining experience that involves placing one’s trust in the chef’s culinary skills to create a personalized meal. According to Michelin Guide, the term omakase translates to “I leave it up to you,” which reflects the diner’s willingness to relinquish control over their meal to the chef.

At Uchiko, which means “Child of Uchi,” chef Shaun King creates a meal that brings smoke and char to the fore alongside the fresh and clean flavors that define Uchi. Chef Shaun’s favorite menu item is the hearth roasted lobster: “I love the hearth roasted lobster dish because it’s both smokey and a little bit spicy, and the warm umeboshi butter perfectly sets off the flavor of the shellfish.”
