National Nurses Day: Saying thank you to these Houston nurses

National Nurse Day (KPRC 2 / Click2Houston)

HOUSTON – For National Nurses Week, we are honored to publish your personal stories, share your gratitude, and celebrate the work of nurses across Houston.

Every year, we celebrate National Nurses Week (May 6 to May 12) to uplift hardworking colleagues, neighbors, and loved ones. No matter the setting, sickness, situation or care specialty, nurses are staunch advocates for their patients, expert and efficient multitaskers and compassionate caregivers to family and friends. They work hard every day to keep people as safe and as healthy as possible.

Johnnie Miller, is a nurse practitioner. Not only does she help with patient's physical symptoms, she'll help boost their spirits as well. She went to my mom's first chemo treatment wearing the unicorn costume. It was a hit with the staff and patients!

Nurses Week-Connie Davila-ER Nurse at Herman Memorial-The Woodlands-I came into the ER (Feb 28, 2023) terrified and lost, out of touch with reality. Ms Davila talked to me quietly & calmly to bring me back when no one else had. She saved me that night because she took the time to understand a young man in crisis, and came to visit me each day before her shift while I was ICU for 9 days to make sure I was ok. She went above and beyond because she cared. I will be forever grateful for her kindness and calm, lovely spirit. J. Basham
