How Comcast RISE is donating millions to help small businesses grow

HOUSTON – If you live in Houston and own a small business, you could be eligible to apply for the Comcast RISE program. Since 2020, more than $125 million in monetary, marketing and technology grants has been awarded to 13,500 small businesses in a plan to help them grow and thrive.

“We will choose 100 small businesses here in the Houston area and you’re not just getting a grant, you’re getting this comprehensive grant package,” says Ilona Carson, with Comcast Texas.

That package includes a $5,000 monetary grant, business consultation services, education resources, and creative production, media and technology makers - including a 30 second advertisement that Comcast will run on its platforms.

Small business owner Ashley Gomez, co-founder of marketing agency 132 Design, received the award in 2021 and said it immediately connected her with a supportive community and changed how they did business.

“We were able to turn relationships into partnerships and really grow and expand in a way we didn’t expect,” said Gomez.

Carson says this year alone, Comcast will spend more than a million dollars to help bridge the digital divide and help lift and connect our neighbors.

“We really, truly believe at Comcast that small businesses are the backbone of our communities and so we need them to do well, we need them to thrive,” she says.

Applications for the Comcast RISE program are open now and the deadline to apply is May 31st. Apply online at ComcastRise.com.
