Texas Rangers ordered to help find Brady's missing Super Bowl jersey

HOUSTON – The Texas Rangers were ordered Monday to help Houston police find the jersey worn by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during Super Bowl LI.

The Houston Police Department said that no official police report has been filed and they've asked NFL security how they want to handle the situation.

The Texas Rangers said they will help HPD in any way necessary.

The Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night 34-28 in a thrilling overtime touchdown. It was the first time that a Super Bowl went into extra time.

Apparently, after the game, Brady’s jersey was swiped.

“I put it in my bag and I came out and it wasn’t there anymore,” Brady said. “It’s unfortunate, because that’s a nice piece of memorabilia.”

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Monday that he has told the state’s investigators to assist the Houston Police Department with the investigation.

“It is important that history does not record that it was stolen in Texas,” Patrick said in a written statement.

Patrick said the jersey has already been called the most valuable NFL collectible ever.

Brady, while obviously disappointed about the disappeared apparel, seemed to poke a little fun at the situation.

“If it shows up on eBay somewhere, someone let me know,” Brady said.

Patrick, though, showed less levity.

“Whoever took this jersey should turn it in,” Patrick said in his statement. “The Texas Rangers are on the trail.”

This was Brady’s fifth Super Bowl title. It’s also the fourth time he was named most-valuable player of the Super Bowl.
