Traveling Texans superfan excited to see team play in home country

HOUSTON – On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being a superfan of the Texans, Oved Carranza says he is a, "99."

Carranza knows what it takes to be a superfan.

He used to drive from Dallas to Houston for every home game.

"Every Sunday I'd get up at 4 o'clock in the morning, leave the house by 5, be at the blue lot," Carranza said.

Not only waking up early to get to the game, but he also transforms himself for the games, into a character he calls "Omascaras."

"Off to become Omascaras!" he said.

Carranza got the idea from his mother, who loved Mexican wrestling.

So, he created the ultimate fan getup, a tribute not only to his Texans, but to his culture.

Carranza is now a Houstonian, but he was born in Mexico, so to see his team playing in his home country is something he's been waiting for.

"To go play in Estadio Azteca, you know 100-plus thousand seat stadium, it's just exhilarating to be able to get the opportunity to do it," Carranza said.
