Texans Joseph, Demps join Hall of Famers at NFL Gridiron Glory

Players host students on tour of NFL Gridiron Glory at TSU

HOUSTON – In conjunction with the Super Bowl, the Hall of Fame traveling exhibit, Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame is on display at the University Museum on campus at Texas Southern University.

Houston Texans defensive backs, Johnathan Joseph and Quintin Demps, took 25 students from Pro-Vision Academy to visit the exhibit.

It features hundreds of artifacts from the Hall of Fame’s collection and captures the essence of the Hall of Fame experience. The exhibit has been featured in every Super Bowl city since its opening.

Former Houston Oilers and Pro Football Hall of Famers, Elvin Bethea and Ken Houston, were also there to share their stories and enlighten the students on the history of the game.

'I was honored to be here," Joseph said. "Just to see where everything began with football and the way the game evolved.

"Just to be able to walk around and talk with the Hall of Famers here and just pick their brain about certain things that's great and just see the history of the game."

Joseph and Demps spent time talking with the students and with the Hall of Famers as they made their way through the exhibit.

"It's been fun, I'm kind of been a student myself with Hall of Famer Ken Houston kind of showing us the ropes," Demps said.

"We're just talking about football (with the students) and just paying homage to the players who have come before us," he added.

"It's really rewarding and a little more emotional than I thought it would be," Houston said about having a chance to talk to the kids about what they are seeing at the exhibit and about his experiences in football."

I was telling a group that I was with, I've been in the Hall (of Fame) for 31 years. I was not one of the greatest athletes, but I ended up here.

"There are so many other guys that could be in this position, but they may just not have gotten the call," Houston added. "I feel very fortunate."
