Three Saints players and a pair of Texans left the practice session early. For the Texans, center Nick Martin walked to the sideline with an undisclosed issue and shortly thereafter rode a golf cart to the stadium.

Defensive lineman Christian Covington did not finish practice, but remained on the field with his teammates until the conclusion of the day's work.

There were plenty of 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions throughout the morning allowing the Texans offense to work against a different style of defense.

The Texans defense got to face one of the better passers in the league in Drew Brees.

Both sides had their moments with the Saints defense shutting down the Texans offense in the red zone on three consecutive pass breakups.

While the Texans defense won one late battle with veteran cornerback Johnathan Joseph picking off a deep ball from Brees.
