Daily Craig: Last call for 2015

HOUSTON – The lights just got bright and the guy behind the bar called..."last call for the year"  "let's go , we don't have all night".  I think Kevin Sumlin said the same thing last night in NASHVILLE. HIS AGGIES lost to Louisville (a team that lost at home to UH early in the season). Kevin used the only Quarterback who wanted to renew his lease in College Station. The kid looks like a movie star but didn't win. 8-5 doesn't cut it for the fat cats with those new seats in the expanded KYLE FIELD. As for his former job at UH, the Coogs are at it against FLORIDA ST. The BOWL SEASON WILL RISE TO THE OCCASION LATER WITH THE 2 semi final games. But, if you have watched any TV in the last 6 months you knew that.

It dawned on this reporter a phrase is repeated hundreds if not thousands of times during not just the bowl season but football in general. Ready? HERE WE GO. No, that's not the verbage. It is any combination of the following:

"He did a great job"  "good job by the defense"  "outstanding job by yada yada yada."  Take the expressions regarding "jobs" out of the broadcasts and you have announcerless football. AN EXPERIMENT tried by NBC SPORTS in the 80's and it wasn't a bad idea. I AM NOT in favor of getting rid of guys or gals who do what I DID FOR YEARS, but my goodness...the other thing they do drives me nuts too.  It is always a "Little" this or a "little that". "It was just a little screen that went for 80 yards". "it was just a little fake that  Butch Whatshispants" PULLED OFF., ETC.  "i think I did a great job remembering Butch's last name."

Here is my predication on the 2 semi's..Oklahoma and Alabama. 2 schools with reputations of having a library some of the football players have seen. Bob STOOPS to conquer against a former neighbor of mine, NICK (DON'T CALL ME LOU) Saban. I THINK both guys have really good jobs. I gotta see if the mortgage company sponsoring all these games has a really low rate. "Great job , if they do". Happy new and good luck to the Rockets against the Warriors tonight. I think it'll just be a "little" 20 point win by THE GOLDEN STATERS unless the Curry kid doesn't play.
