HOUSTON – Houston Astros farmhand Brooks Marlow is under fire after a comment he made about ESPN broadcaster Jessica Mendoza.
Marlow decided to make his opinion public about Mendoza during the National League wild card game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets.
Marlow's tweet, which has since been deleted, read, "No lady needs to be on espn talking during a baseball game specially Mendoza sorry."
After a flood of tweets criticizing his comment, he deleted the tweet and apologized.
"I need to apologize for my tweet earlier regarding Jessica Mendoza. It was inappropriate, insensitive and does not reflect who I am."
Marlow later deleted his Twitter account.
The Astros sent a statement via Twitter after the game and apologizing to Mendoza for Marlow's comment.
"The Houston Astros do not condone the tweet posted by one of our minor league players earlier this evening. We have communicated with the player, who agreed that his tweet was inappropriate and insensitive and has since apologized. We also apologize to Ms. Mendoza, who is an outstanding broadcaster that we have had the pleasure of working with this season."

Mendoza became the first female to sit in the booth for ESPN's College World Series coverage in June 2015. She also became the first woman to work as an analyst for ESPN's coverage for the St. Louis Cardinals game against the Arizona Diamondbacks broadcast in August of 2015.
No guy hitting .220 in Single-A needs to be on Twitter spouting his sexist nonsense during a baseball game, specially Brooks Marlow sorry. https://t.co/g0LqM0YO8p

Brooks Marlow should just keep his mouth shut...permanently. Disgraceful to the entire organization...from a minor leaguer... Know your role

Luckily, Brooks Marlow will never have to worry about playing in a game that Jessica Mendoza is calling.

I'm willing to bet Jessica Mendoza knows more about the game than Brooks Marlow, ha.
