Astros' Jose Altuve named AL Player of the Month for June

HOUSTON – After a prolific June, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was named the American League Player of the Month.

Altuve batted .420 with a .492 on-base percentage, 4 home runs, 15 RBI and 6 stolen bases. He reached base safely in all 26 games during the month.

It's his first career Player of the Month award and the first ever for an Astros second baseman. Altuve has been named AL Co-Player of the Week twice in his career: April 11-17 of this year and April 27-May 3, 2015.

Altuve leads MLB in batting average (.352) and leads the AL in hits (111), while also ranking tied for first among AL players in stolen bases (21), second in on-base percentage (.427) and third in doubles (24) and OPS (.992).
