Andre Johnson says he wants to retire a Texan

Johnson hopes for one-day contract with Texans

HOUSTON – Former Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson said Thursday, he'd like to sign a one-day contract with the Texans, so he can retire as a Texan.

"I think it would be a great thing if it happened," Johnson said today at a charity event in Houston.

"Hopefully it will happen, we'll just see. I know they are busy with their season and we'll just see what happens," Johnson added.

Johnson spent the first 12 seasons of his 14 year NFL career in Houston and produced Hall-of-Fame caliber numbers.

He caught 1,012 passes for 13,597 yards and 64 touchdowns in his time in Houston. He added another 50 receptions, 588 yards and six touchdowns the last two seasons in Indianapolis and Tennessee.

Johnson played in eight games with Tennessee this season before announcing his retirement on Monday, October 31. The Titans then placed him on their reserve/retired list.

Johnson, back in Houston, after retiring from the Titans earlier this season, was taking part in a charity event with fellow former Texans player DeMeco Ryans.

The two, along with Rockets assistant coach John Lucas, were helping to provide 1500 Thanksgiving meals at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ.
