Next-generation Target store coming to Houston

RICHMOND, Texas – Anyone who has walked into a Target knows how easy it is to walk out with bags of stuff that weren't originally on the shopping list, and nearly nothing of what was actually needed.

Now, that experience might be easier to fall into as Target is not only expanding, but completely redesigning stores to focus on the comfort, ease and inspiration of their shoppers.

The brand new experience will debut first at the new Aliana Market Center in Richmond.

A spokesperson for Target said it will be the retailer's most ambitious store redesign to date.

Officials said the 124,000-square-foot store in Richmond will include:

"Two distinct entrances, each with a specific guest need in mind. Guests can enter through one entrance to find displays of exclusive brands and inspiring seasonal moments, and the other for easy pick-up of online orders and groceries.

Outdoor Order Pickup will be available outside the ease entrance. Guests will find dedicated parking spaces where team members will bring out online orders.

Elevated, cross-merchandised product presentations of Target’s exclusive style brands to encourage guests to browse."

The redesigned Target is set to open in October, just in time for holiday shopping.

Target CEO Brian Cornell said 110 stores will be remodeled and 30 new small-format stores will open in urban neighborhoods and college campuses in 2017.

500 more stores will be renovated in 2018 and 2019.
