HOUSTON – If holiday shopping has you low on cash, you can find your Christmas spirit again with these free events this weekend:

The 7th annual Gingerbread Build-off is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hermann Square in front of Houston’s city hall. You can watch teams of architects build gingerbread houses and holiday goodies. Santa stops by between noon and 2.

Or catch a parade on the water at League city's Christmas Boat Lane Parade. More than 100 boats will be decorated and lit up at 6 p.mm Saturday as they cruise down the Clear Lake channel.

If you've been considering dance classes for your kiddos, they can try one out for free before you plunk down a big payment. The holiday open house at Vitacca on Dunlavy is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out their website for class times for ages 2 and a half to teenagers.

This Sunday portions of Smith and Gray Streets in Midtown will be closed to traffic and open for Cigna Sunday Streets. From noon until 4 p.m. you can cycle, walk, run, dance or just socialize in the street!

Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:30, it's Christmas in the Park at Spring Valley Village Park on Campbell Road.

The entire park will be filled with actors and presentations; choirs; crafts and cookies; camel rides, pony rides, donkey rides, train rides and a petting zoo. And it's all free.
