As Seen on TV Tuesday: Does Dutch Glow "bring old furniture back to life?"

Between kids, pets and house guests, wood furniture and floors can take a beating. Amish Dutch Glow products claim to make scratches disappear and make your old furniture new again. We gave the Dutch Glow Scratch Aid and Wood Milk to the Sherman family to try for "As Seen on TV Tuesday." The family's wood dinner table needs some love. It has scratches, nicks and some spots missing varnish.

7-year-old Spencer was eager to try the products. He used the Wood Milk. His dad helped him cover one side of the table. Then he dribbled the milk on the other side because the sprayer nozzle included in the box was broken. After he wiped it down, Spencer removed the cover from half of the table to compare the two sides.

"Nope. Nothing different," declared Spencer. His mom agreed. She couldn't even tell which side of the table was cleaned with the wood milk. This claim got two thumbs down from Spencer.

Next, Spencer tried to tackle some scratches with the Dutch Glow Scratch Aide. The commercial claims "Just apply scratch aid and in seconds your table looks brand new again."

But when Spencer applied the "scratch mender," the scratch doesn't just disappear like in the commercial. The printed instructions say to let the scratch mender solution set for 2 minutes. Spencer did that and even applied the extra "wood butter" included in the box, but in the end, the scratches looked the same as before the treatment.

"It didn't change anything," said a disappointed Spencer. "This side didn't. These cracks didn't do anything."

And no offense to those Amish craftsmen, but you gotta love a kid who tells it like it is.

"Whoever made this lied to us," Spencer said.

We paid $9.99 for the Dutch Glow Scratch Aide and another $9.99 for the Wood Milk. Our tester quite bluntly said buying either is a waste of money.
