Celebrate ‘Derby Day’ at Loch Bar in Houston’s River Oaks District

HOUSTON – The 150th Kentucky Derby is happening Saturday, May 4 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. But you don’t have to travel far to find some derby fun - right here in Houston.

On Saturday, guests who come to Loch Bar in their Kentucky Derby attire can get a free signature cocktail all day long. They will also have their TVs tuned in to watch the derby race live.

Gee Lee, the lead bartender at Loch Bar, stopped by Houston Life with a preview of some of the signature cocktails you can find at their Derby Day celebration.

Derrick Shore and Frank Billingsley tried their hand crafting these cocktails live in studio.

Lee walked them through how to make Loch Bar’s Psycho Killer cocktail – inspired by the Talking Heads song.

The drink features Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond bourbon, Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur, Luxardo Amaro Abano, Luxardo Sangue Morlacco, Angostura Bitters and Regan’s Orange Bitters.

Lee also recommends Loch Bar’s Heart of Gold cocktail – inspired by the Neil Young song.

He makes it with Four Roses Bourbon, Giffard Abricot du Roussillon, lemon juice, honey syrup and Bittermens Elemakule Tiki Bitters.

Loch Bar is still accepting reservations for Mother’s Day, and their featured specials will include Seafood Imperial on a Half Shell, Smoked Salmon Toast and Bread Pudding French Toast for dessert.
