Flamingo spotted in Texas 17 years after escaping Kansas zoo

A flamingo known as “Pink Floyd” that escaped from a Kansas zoo 17 years ago has been spotted in Texas.

The flamingo is one of two that escaped from a Kansas zoo during a storm in 2005, KPRC 2′s sister-station KSAT reports.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, was spotted near Port Lavaca on March 10.

KSAT reports officials were able to make out the African flamingo’s leg band in the video captured by an environmental activist, confirming to The Associated Press that the bird is in fact one of the zoo escapees.

According to KSAT, the flamingo has been spotted in Wisconsin, Louisiana and Texas, sometimes with other wild flamingos.

KSAT reports according to officials that the flamingo was last spotted in Texas two years ago.
