One family. Two murders. Both cold.
“It was awful. It was an awful experience.” Explained Kimberly Caselberry-Billie, older sister to Joseph Billie.
“Funny. Always coming up. Yeah. Just, just lit up the room. He was always a jokester, ‘hey a-t, hey a-t!’ Smiling all the time.” Explained Sharon Shepard, aunt to Joseph.
Joseph was shot and killed on Hondo Street on June 28, 2019. Police do not have a description of the killer.
“Joseph was hilarious. He made everybody laugh. He was a protector for his family. He was everything. He. He lit up the whole room when he was around. Everybody look forward to Joseph being around.” Explained Kimberly.
Joseph leaves behind three girls.
Kimberly pleaded, “If you know something to say, something, you just put yourself in my shoes. If your brother was brutally murdered in the middle of the street and no one has come to speak up, you would have an issue with that.”
This is not the first murder the family experienced.
Almost three years earlier the family lost Edmond Ford, Joseph’s first cousin, also to murder. His case also cold. Edmond was murdered inside his apartment on Woodfair Drive in November 2016. Police say there was a knock at the door, Edmond answered and was shot to death. A witness inside the apartment escaped through a bedroom window, only to be confronted by the suspect and another man at gunpoint in the courtyard of the complex. She survived. The men took off.
“Well, Edmond, you know, he was my favorite cousin, and we were like peas in a pod. And, you know, we just really had a very close relationship, a bond.” Explained Andrea Jones, cousin to Edmond.
“No family should have to go through this.” Explained Sharon.
If you know anything about either murders, you’re asked to call Crimestoppers Houston.
