Showers Wednesday afternoon, rain in time for Easter weekend

HOUSTON – A few muggy and showery afternoons are in our forecast as we head into the holiday weekend.

Southerly winds will continue to pump moisture into the region as a few disturbances move across the state. For the rest of this afternoon, we'll see scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through the commute home, highs today will hold in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Overnight, we'll hold in the mid to upper 60s, humidity levels will stay elevated as well, making for a sticky start to Thursday morning. In addition, there will be a few light showers moving through but most of that will be finished by 9 or 10 a.m.

Most of Thursday will remain dry and humid with mostly cloudy skies and highs climbing up into the low 80s. Friday will also be a mostly dry day with a chance for some showers later on in the evening, highs again in the low 80s.

There's a slight chance for some storms to become severe but most of that will be north and east of the greater Houston area, as the cold front begins to move south into southeast Texas. Overnight into Saturday, a few shower may linger into the early morning hours, but the real change will be the cooler air moving in behind the front.

Highs Saturday will be closer to 70 and feeling less muggy with a steady northerly wind. Skies will likely clear out by the afternoon, back to partly cloudy for the remainder of the day.

Easter Sunday will be a mixed bag with clouds returning early on, then a chance for some afternoon showers. Nothing major and the latest trend is to back up the timing of the rain into the afternoon, which may result in a dry morning for Easter church services.
