Brr! Houston reaches freezing temperatures for first time this season

HOUSTON – It is official!  The first freeze of the season has hit Houston!  Temperatures dropped below freezing Wednesday morning not only in Houston but all the way south into coastal counties.

Temperatures dropped below freezing as far south as Angleton, League City and Anahauc.  Although Galveston remained above freezing it was a recording cold start in the mid-30s!

The average first freeze for Houston is December 3rd. This year's freeze is ahead of schedule but not record-breaking. The earliest freeze on record for Houston is Oct. 20, 1989.

A second night of freezing temperatures is expected Wednesday night.
