HOUSTON – Harvey has become a tropical storm ahead of making landfall on the Texas coast, according to the National Weather Service.
Data gathered by Air Force reserve hurricane hunters indicate that Harvey had strengthened in the Gulf of Mexico late Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service said Harvey is expected to continue strengthening as it approaches the Texas coast Thursday into Friday.
