Fewer flights spend time stuck on the tarmac

Only four flights sat for more than three hours, study finds

HOUSTON – The days of being stuck on a plane for hours on the tarmac seem to be a thing of the past.

According to the Department of Transportation, only four flights spent three hours or more sitting on the tarmac between January and June 2012.  That's compared to 35 flights for the same period in 2011.

The drop comes on the heels of new laws, preventing airlines for allowing for long tarmac delays.
