HOUSTON – A man was hit and killed Monday as he was trying to cross a freeway near downtown Houston.
The crash was reported at 4:39 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 at Interstate 45.

Houston police said it appears the victim may have lived at a homeless camp near the scene of the crash.
The driver did not show signs of intoxication.
Traffic was diverted from I-10 was diverted onto I-45 for several hours while investigators were at the scene. The freeway has since reopened.
