Eastex Freeway reopens at Crosstimbers after fatal crash

HOUSTON – A section of the Eastex Freeway was closed Monday morning after a person was killed in a crash in north Houston.

The crash was reported at 10:25 a.m. at 6100 Eastex Freeway.

Houston police said the driver of a black Nissan Sentra was driving northbound when she failed to change lanes safely, crossing all lanes of traffic at once, and struck the left concrete barrier. Police said the Sentra then flipped onto its side, ejecting the front passenger from the vehicle.

Police said the woman who was ejected from the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and all other occupants involved were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Their conditions are unknown.

Police believe alcohol was not a factor. There are no charges being filed.
