HOUSTON – A pair of crashes, one of them fatal, has caused major delays Friday morning on the Westpark Tollway in west Houston.
The first crash was reported at 5:22 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway at West Houston Center Boulevard. Real-time maps showed traffic was backed up to near Barker Cypress Road.
The second crash was reported at 5:56 a.m. on the westbound side of the tollway at Beltway 8.
Authorities said a commercial truck pulled over to the side of the tollway, and two people got out of it to retrieve two oxygen tanks that had fallen off the truck. Those people were hit by another car, killing one of them and critically injuring the other.
