Houston-area art fans and UFO enthusiasts, are you ready for a close encounter of the art kind? A new, interactive museum will soon touch down in Space City. The โtechnology-fueled experientialโ art museum dubbed Seismique will pack its 40 exhibit rooms with extraterrestrials, artificial intelligence, immersive art, and dazzling light displays meant to inspire a sense of wonder, according to a release. The concept is the brainchild of Steve Kopelman, principal and COO of Escape the Room โ the largest escape room company in the United States. The space will display works by over two dozen established and emerging artists -- many of whom are based in Texas.
Harden returns to Houston, undergoes coronavirus test
HOUSTON โ Houston Rockets star James Harden has returned to Space City. Rockets coach Stephen Silas said during a news conference Tuesday that his standout guard underwent a coronavirus test before being allowed to join the team for practice. Harden made headlines Sunday when he failed to show up to Rockets practice and Silas said he hadnโt heard from him. However, on Monday, Silas said that while Harden was not allowed to practice with the team, he was expecting him for an individual workout sometime in the evening. The Rockets first preseason game is again the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, but itโs not clear if Harden will be suiting up.

(CNN) โ The Eta Aquariid meteor shower is expected to peak on Tuesday, but a nearly full moon could outshine the show. May is the best spring month to view meteor activity for those in the northern hemisphere, according to the American Meteor Society. However, this meteor shower favors sky watchers in the southern hemisphere, where between 20 and 40 meteors can be seen each hour. The source of the Eta Aquariid meteor shower is Halley's Comet. This happens again in October, which creates the Orionid meteor shower.

A new, interactive alien-themed museum will soon touch down in Space City. The โtechnology-fueled experientialโ art museum will pack its 40 exhibit rooms with extraterrestrials, artificial intelligence, immersive art, dazzling light displays meant to inspire a sense of wonder, according to a release. The concept is the brainchild of Steve Kopelman, principal and COO of Escape the Room โ the largest escape room company in the United States. Apart from an intergalactic escape, Seismique will also offer educational workshops for students across the Houston area interested in topics related to S.T.E.A.M. The 40,000-square-foot museum is slated to open in Fall 2020 at 2306 South Highway 6 on Houstonโs west side.
Seeing green: More bike lanes are coming to Houston in 2020
HOUSTON โ Drivers in the Midtown neighborhood are seeing a lot more green as a new bike lane is about to open in the area, and itโs the first of many coming to Space City in the new year. โWe know a lot of people are already biking in Houston, and a lot more want to bike in Houston, but they donโt have a safe way to do it,โ said Ian Hlavacek, an engineer with Houston Public Works. โAlways make sure that youโre yielding to pedestrians and bicyclists who are coming into conflict with cars,โ Eccles said. Go around, if you can, and donโt go into the bike lane.โCrews are expected to later install traffic lights that will help control the cycling traffic. The Gray Street bike lane is expected to be completed in March.
How Houston landed NASAโs space center
The Mercury-Redstone Launch Vehicle is seen in Rocket Park at Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center on April 3, 2016 in Houston, Texas. The space center was constructed in September 1963 and beat out 12 other cities. When looking for the location for the new space center, Congress agreed that certain criteria must be met. Houston was viewed as an ideal site due to the closeness of Rice University and the University of Houston. The space center has now led many leading expeditions, ranging from the Apollo program to the space shuttle program.
