Amazon hiring more than 5,100 employees in the Houston area for the holidays
Amazon announced Tuesday that it is hiring 250,000 employees throughout the United States in full-time, seasonal, and part-time roles and more than 28,000 of those will be in Texas. That number includes more than 5,100 employees who will be hired in Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Montgomery counties.

A heat wave has brought crowds to California's beaches as the state grappled with a spike in coronavirus infections and hospitalizations. Gavin Newsom on Monday extended the closure of bars and indoor dining statewide and ordered gyms, churches and hair salons closed in most places as coronavirus cases keep rising in the nation's most populated state. The Democratic governor extended that order statewide Monday. In March, California was the first state to issue a mandatory, statewide stay-at-home order to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The order appeared to work as cases stabilized in the ensuing weeks while other states grappled with huge increases.
Surfers honor George Floyd in paddle out held around world
