Wife surprises husband with ALCS tickets in elaborate scheme

CONROE, Texas – A Conroe man received quite a gift for his birthday when his wife surprised him Friday with round-trip airfare to Boston and tickets to Game 1 of the ALCS that features the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox.

“I’m so nervous. I’ve been so nervous for it,” said Robin Todd, after surprising her husband, Robert.

Robert Todd works as a sales manager at Gullo Toyota in Conroe. He thought he was being asked to attend a staff meeting when, suddenly, his wife walked into the room.

“My parents just called. This just came,” Robin said, acting distraught as she handed Robert an envelope. He opened it.

“What is it, Bobby?” asked a co-worker who was in on the deal. “Whatcha got?”

“Red Sox tickets,” a shocked Robert replied.

That’s not all.

The couple also has plans to see the New England Patriots take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. Robin told KPRC2 she initially purchased tickets for the football game as part of Robert’s surprise. But when it was made known that the Astros would battle the Red Sox on Saturday in Beantown, she knew she had to try to get tickets to the ALCS.

“What did you think when she walked in?” asked KPRC2 photojournalist Gil Gredinger. “Something bad had happened. That one got me a little bit, but this is amazing,” Robert said.

He hugged his wife, who had pulled off quite a surprise.
