UH Cougars' offensive coordinator quits

Headline Goes Here

Mike Nesbitt, Travis Bush

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Cougars have lost a staff member after just one game into the season.

Head coach Tony Levine announced Monday that offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt has resigned.

Travis Bush will take over play-calling duties while he also coaches quarterbacks, Levine said.

"We wish Mike the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to the Houston program," said Levine. "We are confident in Travis and his play-calling ability moving forward."

Bush isn't a stranger to calling plays. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Texas-San Antonio last season. He also spent three seasons as the co-offensive coordinator at Texas State.

The Cougars lost their season opener, 13-30, to Texas State on Saturday.
