Twins Paul Molitor named 2017 American League Manager of the Year

HOUSTON - Twins skipper Paul Molitor was named the 2017 American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday.

Astros Manager A.J. Hinch finished in third place, behind Indians Manager Terry Francona.

Hinch led the Astros to a 101-win regular season and the first World Series title in franchise history.

Hinch had Houston atop the American League West Division for 178 days this season.

Houston was never under .500 this season and finished the season 40 games above .500.

Arizona Diamondbacks Manager Torey Lovullo won the award for the National League.

Hinch's career record as a manager is 360-338. With Houston he is 271-215.
