HOUSTON – Texans offensive tackle David Quessenberry said it best Thursday on Instagram: “This bell, just like cancer, never stood a chance--”
About three years after his cancer fight began, Quessenberry, 26, finally got the chance to ring the ceremonial bell at MD Anderson Cancer Center, an honor reserved for people who have completed their final chemotherapy treatments.

The plaque on the bell reads: “Now that you have completed your chemotherapy treatment, ring this bell to tell the world that you are on your way to being well.”
Quessenberry showed the world just that when he rang the bell with such vigor that it flew off the wall and hit the floor with a clang.
The crowd that gathered to watch laughed and cheered for Quessenberry. He apologized to a hospital staff member, but then celebrated the moment of triumph.
Quessenberry remains on the Texans active/non-football illness list, but we’ll be watching for any changes to the Texans roster.
