HOUSTON – Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL's performance enhancing substances policy, the league announced Wednesday.
Cushing's suspension without pay begins immediately.
He will be eligible to return to the roster on Nov. 28, a day after the team's Monday Night Football game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Cushing was in the concussion protocol this week after suffering a concussion in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville, and he had already been ruled out for the Thursday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals on KPRC2.
When Cushing returns, there will be five games left in the season, starting with the Dec. 3 game at the Tennessee Titans.
Cushing failed a drug test back in 2010, saying at the time that doctors said his failed drug test resulted from "overtraining athlete syndrome." He was suspended for four games.
