HOUSTON - Millions more Houston sports fans finally have a chance to watch their favorite teams with the launch of ROOT Sports Southwest regional sports network Monday morning.
The network went live at 6 a.m. and will broadcast its first game at 7 p.m. as the Rockets take on the Memphis Grizzlies. With the network's launch, more than 4 million Houston area homes will be able to watch the Rockets and Astros, up from fewer than 1 million the past two years.
ROOT Sports Southwest is now available to AT&T U-verse subscribers on channels 758 in SD/1758 in HD and DIRECTV customers on channel 674. Local Comcast cable customers will see ROOT Sports Southwest on channels 39 in SD/639 in HD, in place of CSN Houston.
ROOT Sports Southwest said the network will produce all Rockets games and future Astros coverage exclusively in HD.
A programming schedule is available on RootSports.com.
