Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice will miss his rookie season after tearing the ACL in his left knee Thursday night.
The second-round pick out of LSU was injured at the end of a first-quarter run in Washington's preseason opener against the New England Patriots. He totalled 19 yards on six carries before leaving the Redskins' 26-17 loss.
The team announced Guice's prognosis Friday afternoon after he underwent an MRI. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to play next season.
Guice, who was expected to be Washington's starting running back this season, was picked 59th overall in this year's draft.
The team will now likely turn to Rob Kelley or Samaje Perine, both of whom had been competing with Guice for first-team carries in training camp.
