HOUSTON – More Houston-area Olympians landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Wednesday morning.
Weightlifter Sarah Robles and first-time Olympic gymnast Chris Brooks returned to Houston from Rio de Janeiro to a terminal packed with cheering locals.
“It feels great to be home," Brooks said. "(It's) great to be back.”
“Thanks everybody for waking up really early,” Robles said.
Robles won bronze in weightlifting, lifting a combined 630 pounds.
"I did something that hasn't been done in a long time," Robles said. "Everybody keeps calling it a 16-year drought."
Brooks, of Cypress, represented the U.S. for the first time in men's gymnastics.
"It's a lifetime of work," Brooks said. "Twenty-three years in the making for me, personally. Anytime you get to put on that U.S.A. uniform and go represent your country, there's no greater honor."
