Employees pick up extra shifts, cash at Minute Maid watch parties

HOUSTON – In the middle of all the Minute Maid watch-party action, also among the crowd are several workers just as excited.

Many of them are like Henry Sais, a lifelong Astros fan who couldn't be more thrilled his team made it to the World Series again.

"To tell you the truth, I was an Astros fan since I was 5 years old. Grew up watching Cruz and Nolan Ryan," said Sais, who is working World Series games.

Although many are seasonal workers, it certainly doesn't hurt that the Astros cruised into the postseason and made it to the championship. Working along the way to them is just a bonus.

"Work here is pretty nice. I like interacting with the fans. Pretty nice," Sais said.

"It's fun," said Abel Zamudio, who is also working World Series games. "We get to watch the game somewhat, hear the fans, especially when they hit a home run. Everyone gets excited."

While it's actually considered working, many workers said they wouldn't have it any other way.

"Go 'Stros. Can't wait for Friday. That's going to be even better," Zamudio said.
