HOUSTON - Barring an unforeseen and rapid change of events, the Houston Dynamo will play the second and final leg of their Western Conference semifinal matchup in Portland against the Timbers without goalkeeper Tyler Deric.

Deric was suspended by the league on Wednesday following his Tuesday morning arrest in connection with an alleged domestic dispute. He was charged with misdemeanor assault.

In a statement released by the team, the Dynamo said, “We take these matters very seriously and working closely with Major League Soccer and local authorities. We support the league’s decision to suspend the player pending further investigation.”

Deric helped the Dynamo keep Portland scoreless in the first leg of their Western Conference finals match that ended in a 0-0 draw. The second leg will be played on Sunday in Portland.

The Dynamo, with Deric minding the net, had pitched shutouts in four consecutive games.
