Big names, former champion join early Shell Houston Open field

HOUSTON – Four big names have announced they will play in the 2016 Shell Houston Open.

Keegan Bradley - who is No. 85 in the World Golf Rankings, Johnson Wagner - the 2008 Shell Houston Open champion, Lee Westwood - who is No. 52 in the World Gold Rankings and Bernd Wiesberger - No. 38 in the World Golf Rankings have decided to play in Houston's event.

Bradley won the 2011 PGA Championship and is a former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. He is also a Ryder Cup team member and has already qualified for the Masters, which is one week after the Shell Houston Open.

Wagner was in a three-way playoff with Jordan Spieth and eventual winner J.B. Homes at last year's Shell Houston Open.

Both Westwood and Wiesberger have qualified for the Masters.

Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth (No. 1 in the World Golf Rankings) both plan on playing in the event as well. It would be Mickelson's ninth straight year to play the event.

The 2016 Shell Houston Open will be played the week of March 28-April 3 at the Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course.
