Astros fans snatch up merchandise after division title

HOUSTON – There was plenty of Astros American League West Division Champions gear around town Monday, including at the team store at Minute Maid Park.

The store remained opened for 24 hours after the team’s victory over the Seatle Mariners.

The official gear went on sale Sunday. On Monday, a lot of fans were still grabbing their t-shirts, hats and pins.

VIDEO: Astros fans want to go all the way

“I wanted to come this morning because I am Houston Astros strong, and I'm always wanting to be the first one with the latest things,” fan Earnestine Johnson said.

The club won it's first division title since claiming the National League crown back in 2001.

It means even more this time around for a city still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.

"What the city has been through the last month, two months, and to bring a win at home here and to celebrate like this -- it was real special,” fan Andy Romero said.

For the players and the fans, all eyes were on a World Series win.

“They have the talent to get there this year, and I hope they get it all the way,” said Shalan Saylors, an Astros fan.

“We've got the backup, the strength, the depth in the field so there's no reason we can't make it,” said fan Val Kahanek.

Astros said they'll continue to get new gear at the store. Fans can click or tap here to buy the merchandise online.
