COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame has been a long time coming for legendary Astros first baseman Jeff Bagwell. After seven years on the ballot, and now nearly seven months since he learned he'd received the necessary votes, he'll receive his plaque, give his acceptance speech and a member of baseball's exclusive club.
Legions of Astros fans have made the trip to Cooperstown to share in the excitement.
Many have come to the Hall of Fame weekend for the second time in three years since teammate and fellow “Killer B” Craig Biggio was inducted in 2015.
“I don’t think there was any doubt (Bagwell would get in),” Dan Graham said. “Because he’s got the numbers to be here.”
"For Biggio, the streets were just full of orange. It was a sea of orange,” Rosa Graham said.
“Today maybe the rain dampened it a little bit, but we’ve still seen a lot of Astros fan. It was just exciting."
Bagwell will meet with the media Saturday for the first time in Cooperstown and then will take the stage Sunday for his induction ceremony which you can watch live here.
