Cedar Hill's Kaidon Salter will play for a state title days before his first college class. Next Saturday, Tennessee signee Kaidon Salter will try to lead the Cedar Hill Longhorns to a UIL 6A Division II State Title against Katy. Not too soon after the state title game, Salter will be in his first college class.

Salter, an Elite 11 finalist, was offered a spot on the Tennessee Volunteer's roster on January 21, 2020 and committed a little less than five months later in May after making an unofficial visit to the Knoxville campus in March. Salter officially signed with Tennessee on early national signing day— December 16, 2020.
With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) running rampant in the state of Texas, the 5A and 6A football schedules were delayed ultimately causing a delay in playoffs and the state tournament. With the COVID-19 delays matching up with Salter's decision to enroll in college early, Salter will be joining his first college classes as a Tennessee student-athlete just four days after the state title game.
After losing last season to Denton Guyer, Salter helped Cedar Hill avenge themselves Saturday with a 27-17 defeat over the Wildcats. During the game, Salter completed something he said he'd never done before: he caught, threw, and ran for a touchdown. On top of the scores, Salter threw for 190 passing yards while also tallying 120 rushing yards.
The four-star quarterback chose Tennessee over other programs like Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, North Texas, Ole Miss, and more.
