Well sort of.

XFL commissioner Oliver Luck announced Tuesday that Houston will be the centralized location for all eight teams’ preseason training camps. The teams will practice and practice for the inaugural season from Jan. 4-22 at eight different locations around Harris County.

Houston is the permanent home of the Roughnecks, who will play their home games this upcoming at TDECU Stadium on UH’s campus.

The XFL season officially kicks off Feb. 8.

“Houston is a sports town,” Houston mayor Sylvester Turner said in a released statement. “We have great fans and we support our teams.

I’m confident this will generate a great deal of fan excitement and interest in the new football league.”
