Healthy Jadeveon Clowney dancing his way through start of Texans training camp, interviews

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was having fun Thursday from the minute he walked into the interview area just off the practice field at The Greenbrier Resort Performance Center.

"I’m just trying to be a good teammate and do my job," Clowney said in his opening remarks with the media.

Next question, and again Clowney delivered.

“Yeah, I’m trying to be a good teammate and do my job,” he stated quickly.

Then again.

“I come out every day working and doing my job,” Clowney said as he broke out a smile.

Then he gave in.

“No, no I’m joking, I’m joking with ya’ll.”

There's no doubt Clowney is having fun at camp. He's even bringing dance moves to the practice field.

“It’s really like a dance stretch type thing that I do and it’s working, man,” Clowney said. “I’m getting loose and coming out here giving it my all every day.”

Then I asked Clowney how does he rate himself among the Texans best dancers?

“Hey we’ve got some pretty good guys out there ya know,” Clowney said. “I may be bottom five.”

Kidding aside, Clowney, who's in his fourth season, is healthy and is a huge piece to a defense that was ranked No. 1 in the NFL last year.

“Hopefuly we can get that done again this year. Come out here and give people what they want. We have to make plays up front and that’s our goal, and we come to work to get to that goal," Clowney said.

Clowney is all smiles knowing J.J. Watt is back as well. Together, they could be a productive 1-2 punch all season.

“With him out there, it’s always going to be good for not only me but for everyone around him. He’s a great player,” Clowney said.

Watt, who’s healthy again, agrees.

“You have some great pass rushing ability out there with Jadeveon and Whitney,” Watt said. “I can tell you it’s going to be great.”
