"While out of town, Blitz was being taken care of by a close friend at my house and someone broke in and took him," he posted. "Whomever stole Blitz has contacted my phone numerous times demanding ransom money."

The heartbroken football player also posted a message for the dog abductor: "I strongly advise you to stop and return my boy safely before it gets any worse!" Whitehead wrote.

KXAS-TV in Dallas reported that Whitehead posted on Snapchat about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday that Blitz was safe and back home.

Whitehead is obviously a devoted dog dad. He even made an Instagram for his beloved pet. Since it was made in May, the @blitz2fast account has gained more than 5,600 followers.
