HOUSTON – It’s time for the best girls' basketball teams in Texas to converge on the Alamodome in San Antonio and Cy Ranch High School will be along for the ride.
Cy Ranch, which opened its doors in 2008, is making its first trip to the UIL state tournament.
“It’s an amazing time and it’s one of those moments these kids and this school will treasure for a lifetime,” Cy Ranch coach Tresa Martin-Hornsby said.
The Lady Mustangs advanced to the state tournament by winning the regional title this past weekend with a 59-56 victory over Clear Springs.
Cy Ranch heads to the Alamodome with a 31-6 record.
“We are going to battle for sure,” Cy Ranch senior DiDi Richards said. “We’re not just a little Cypress team coming in there. We’re gonna show them what we can do.”
“That is the goal; to come back and do something that will be up here in our gym forever,” Cy Ranch senior guard Ariana Whitfield said.
Cy Ranch opens against Pflugerville in the Class 6A semifinals Friday at 7 p.m.
