Hard hits as Texans don pads for first time at training camp

HOUSTON – Day three of Houston Texans Training Camp is in the books at NRG Park and Tuesday brought on the first day in pads.

"It's like that first kiss. You get that first hit or two in and it feels good." cornerback Kareem Jackson said. "It is fun to get out there and hit some people."

Two hours in the Houston heat brought out some physical play on both sides.

"This is big because it shows who wants to hit, be physical and aggressive," cornerback Johnathon Joseph said. "This is a big separation day for all of us out here."

Linebacker Benardrick McKinney was one of the Texans standouts Tuesday morning. McKinney delivered several hits and was solid on the goal line work.

The Texans continue workouts through Thursday before their first day off Friday. They open the preseason Aug. 14 at San Francisco.
