Rockets to conduct additional head coaching interviews

Rockets' search for new coach continues

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets' search for a new coach will continue with two more candidates scheduled to interview Monday.

Magic assistant coach Adrian Griffin and Spurs assistant James Borrego will both meet with the team Monday.

They will be the 11th and 12th coaches the team will have spoken with regarding its vacant head coaching position.

Griffin spent last season as an assistant under Scott Skiles in Orlando and spent the previous five seasons as an assistant under Tom Thibodeau in Chicago.

He has eight years of NBA experience as an assistant after a 10-year NBA playing career.

Griffin spent one season with the Rockets in 2003-04 when Jeff Van Gundy was the head coach.

Borrego was in his second stint with the Spurs last season having also been an assistant there from 2003-10.

He was also the Magic's interim head coach to finish the 2014-15 season, going 10-29 after Jacque Vaughn was fired.

Borrego has also interviewed with Memphis for its vacant head coaching position.
