Herman content with Cougars current conference home

Cougars coach "thrilled" with where current conference is positioned

HOUSTON – The summer always brings discussion on possible conference re-alignments and expansion. Inevitably, the University of Houston Cougars football team, reigning American Athletic Conference and Peach Bowl champions, are brought up in that equation.

Cougars head coach Tom Herman, who is entering his second season, maintained happiness with the Cougars affiliation with the American Athletic conference and that any discussion of conference affiliation change is something decided by others within the university.

"Those decisions are well above my pay grade," Herman said. "We're extremely proud of the American Athletic Conference.

"(We had) four teams in the top 25 for a good number of weeks. We're really excited about the fact that you come to the University of Houston as a recruit, you're going to be favored to win the American Athletic Conference and you win the AAC then you're going to a new year's six bowl game.

'We're really, really happy with where we're at and our lot in life right now," Herman added. "If things change, then they change and we move forward.

Right now, we're thrilled about where the American conference is positioned."
