Whether you're absolutely in love with wearing art, creating art or viewing art, October is a good time to do all of those things in Houston.

Learn more

Did you know there are plenty of avenues to express one's self and creativity through art? It's not just painting, drawing and photography.

Making food, music or jewelry; creating with wood or leather; and making glass pieces or sculpting are all ways in which artists create. And though that doesn't even begin to cover everything, there will be all of those things and more at the 48th annual Bayou City Art Festival Downtown on Oct. 12 and 13.

If you're open to learning more about these forms of art and a few of the people who have created the artwork, there will be exhibits, and guests are welcome to walk the streets and see it all for themselves.

Each person is unique, so perhaps you'll learn a few things or come up with some new ideas for yourself.

Get the kids involved

We want our children to be successful and find things they love to do, so try introducing them to every kind of art and help them to find the best type and the one in which they will be able to express their creative side.

At the Children's Creative Zone at the Bayou City Art Festival, there will be featured art activities, along with nonstop live music. There will also be a selfie wall, for people of all ages, who are young at heart.

Savor the talent

We're happy to say that even food art is a thing. Food trucks, food vendors, and coffee and beverage stations will be set up along the streets of downtown for festivalgoers to enjoy.

Soak it in

If you're the type that simply loves looking at and interpreting art, you'll likely appreciate the work of more than 300 artists from around the world at the Bayou City Art Festival, including featured artist Clifton Henri, an award-winning photographer and visual artist from Chicago.

From each exhibit, you can view original work or purchase world-class arts, prints, jewelry, sculptures and more. There's a great variety of pricing, but you're welcome to simply take in the sights and sounds, as well.

Share the love

You know what's great about the art community? It loves to give back where and when it can. A portion of the proceeds from the Bayou City Art Festival will benefit an array of local nonprofit partners, including A Cause to "Give Us Paws," the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston/Galveston and many more.

You can get in on the giving back by simply attending the festival and supporting art.

Interested in fully submerging yourself in all things art? The festival welcomes everyone of all ages to partake.
